Meditation exists in many forms and is practiced in lots of different ways.
The most important part is, that by getting tranquility and peace in your body, the tranquility and peace in your head, the tranquility and peace in your mind and therefore the tranquility and peace in your entire life, will be achieved.

Breathing and concentration is where the Meditative state is based on and in which it really is possible to accomplish things, like gaining strength, stability and trust. That and all kinds of other positive influences to health aspects.

It looks very simple and that is basically true. But in practice it appears not to be so easy to reach that special kind of awareness and consciousness. Frequently and long-term practicing in ‘doing nothing’ are necessery and a lot of people drop out.
